Le città invisibili from Italo Calvino

Post by Nunumi » Thu Jan 25, 2007 5:50 pm

Le città invisibili, or Invisible Cities in English (or Les Villes Invisibles in French, cuz I read it in French ^^), is I think the best book I ever read in my life. It's like an endless source of inspiration for everyone who's drawing, or creating any kind of universe.

The whole book is made of short chapiters, each of them describing a city. And each time, a different one. And it's so well done you can feel, or smell or almost ear what's in there.

Like I said, this is my favorite book, and there is even almost no story!

Italo Calvino is a writing genius.

Il cavaliere inesistente and Il Visconte dimezzato (The Nonexistent Knight) is also another of his masterpieces.

^___^

He definitely is. I read If On a Winter's Night a Traveller last summer, and fell in love. I'll have to try and find this one as well!

Yet another good book from the same writer : The Castle of Crossed Destinies (Il castello dei destini incrociati, 1969)

A must read! ^_^

The title is quite appealing, isn't it?
