The Ride Home #1 Preview!

Post by Joey » Fri Aug 19, 2005 12:43 pm

I just put up a short preview of The Ride Home #1, a mini-comic which I'll be debuting at SPX! To give you some idea of what's going on, it's about a Gnome, Nodo, who lives in a human family's van. He gets lost from his home though, and has to find his way back through the city!

The idea that a river dragon got transfered to the sewer is... so cool I can't think of an approriate word to use. Since I probably won't be able to go to SPX, will it be available somewhere else eventually?

Thanks guys! Yeah, Ferdinand is one of my favorite characters. That's probably why I put this sequence up as the preview! The idea is to modernize several mythological concepts and things like that, as well as see how they deal with the old school creatures and things like that a bit. I'm glad you guys are liking it...this mini is only the first 15 pages. Eventually the book will be around 120-150 pages.

If you can't make it to SPX and are interested in getting ahold of a copy through sale or trade, I've got contact info on my website here: http://tragic-planet.com/TheArtist.html

Also, I'm looking into actually starting a "Store" section of my website, but that probably won't happen until November or later. I'm very busy until then. As we speak, I'm feeling guilty for not working on some other stuff I've gotta do!

I futzed around with the composition of the cover a bit. Nodo's been shifted over so it isn't so heavy on the side with the title.

Man, I've always loved your comics, Joey. And I don't mean, like, in the way a man loves a free pitcher of beer, or even in the way a man loves a good comic. No, I love your comics in the way a man loves a naked woman. As in, I like to read it. I like to read naked women.

The point is: good stuff. And naked women.

If you publish this in a collected trade someday you really need to use that as a blurb on the back cover...

Screw waiting for the trade, just put that blurb right on the back of the mini! It's too good not to be used. :)

This looks great. The characters look great.
I like the way Nodo carries around a framed picture of the van he lives in.

Oh yeah and tripwire is that really the best thing you can think of to do with a naked woman? I'm sure I can think of much more interesting things.
