This is the closest thing to a self-portrait I've ever done.

I'm just learning to ink with a brush, and ink period, which is frustrating but also...relaxing. I think this is a fairly honest self-portrait.

Oops, I guess I should have posted mine in this thread...
Nice to see you handling a brush, Hope. You're already better than I am. (Darn art school kids!) I like the drawing, it's recognizable.. But feels a bit off.. maybe there's too many lines in your face or something. Ok I'll shut up now.

No way am I better than you. You have lively, healthy, confident lines; I have dead lines. ^_^;;
As for too many lines, yeah... I can never tell when to stop. It feels weird to be using lines in all the places where, in a painting, I'd use a color shift. Black and white is my arch-nemesis, but I'm determined to figure it out.

Hope, that picture is super fantastico. I like the facial muscels alot. I have the worst time with that, whenever I do that I make my characters look way too old.

so, i was talking to neil about this. yes, it looks remarkably like you...but alot of the lines in your face make you look much older than you actually look....
im really impressed with this ink Hope. i couldnt handle a brush like that in a million years.

Thanks, Matthew. I'll try again soon, and then pester you mercilessly for help... My dream is to someday be totally free of the computer. I swear it'll happen someday.
You'll always be my inking idol. <3
