*UPDATED ALL 30 PAGES* "...Modern Railroad Days"

Post by thedeafguy » Tue Aug 26, 2008 3:44 pm

Finally, the entire 30 pages of Railroad...

"The Girls and Boys of Modern Railroad Days", is loosely about my own experience 'freight hopping' a couple months ago...after a bad day at work, in Acworth, GA, there's a railroad that is full of trains going by, at least 10 per day. So, finally, I decided to just hop one and see what happens. Long story short, I experienced something remarkable and profound. I highly recommend anyone doing it..however, be careful, please. One can get really hurt or killed in the process. Do your research before embarking...

Enjoy. Comments are always welcomed and desirable!

WOW! I love this!!! This is so excellent i cannot even begin to express it, I used to write Graffiti alot on trains, and i had many encounters alot with friends who were hobos and tramps..This brings back alot of good memories and is really sometimes cool to see. I really like your style. Please continue to post more! Thanks.

Edit: On page 21 i think with the second panel with the girl sort of looking up, i would leave the shadow off from underneith her chin. I think it will look more consistant with the other panels.

oh sure, why not...here's a panel from page 12, the first group I met...this guy, John...he was a bit abrasive and brash in making decisions...yet he was the leader of the group...funny guy though.

Great comic, the style reminds me a bit of Duncan Fegredo's art, while it also gives me the feeling of reading a Fanzine.

I've been told that, my style, is a mixture of Norman Rockwell, Mignola, Gabriel Ba', and Duncan Fegredo. At SCAD, I've been told that I'm the "Craig Thompson" of the artistic talents there...I dunno.

I just like to draw, eh?

Finally for my 30 pages penciled. I have begin inking the first 5 pages. Its coming along well. I should hope to have it all completed and printed before SPX '08. Anyone going?

Meanwhile, here's another page preview. This is part of an intermission between two parts of the whole story, where I'm talking about the various people I've had the opportunity of meeting. Enjoy.

Yeah, Tyler, as I said on your blog, this is REALLY good stuff. I can't wait to take a look at the originals.

Really nice layouts. I love your blacks!

Train hopping seems like fun. I had a real itch a while ago after reading a little Kerouac. Great stuff!

Nice drawings. The sense of space is great in these panels. :D

just great! what a cool story (and experience!)

I'm going to get my friend to pick this up and Crogan's Vengeance when he goes to SPX. Sadly I don't have the cash right now, haha.

So you still in acworth enjoying the rails? If so we should get together sometime get some lunch and get at some trains. Its great to see people inspired by the railroads. I personally wish i lived next to the traintracks, Everything about the train is relaxing. From the blast of the K5LA to the rumble of the flat spotted wheels. Your comics have such a great feel to them, I really enjoy the page where they're looking up at the stars from the track side. Its a really peaceful place to be surprisingly."
