These are really, really fantastic. Really sad and pensive and thoughtful in the way that they don't tie up neatly, in an expected sort of way. I love the zoom out to scenery as a way of opening up meaning, like in the Remembering one. And I really love the umbrella strip and the overlay of text when the caterpillar says "No umbrella!" So beautiful.

And I love the line quality of your trees, landscapes, branches, etc. The silhouettes of the trees at night are gorgeous.

The one thing I'm not entirely sure about is how the line quality of the fly and caterpillar match up with the delicacy of your backgrounds. I know that some artists combine different line weights effectively — Osamu Tezuka, for instance, mixes really intricate backgrounds with cartoony figures all the time in his Buddha books — but I'm not entirely convinced by it in this strip. Yet. I want to be convinced because I like the tone of the writing so much, but it doesn't quite add up yet for me.

I'd love to see more,

Jeff

I really like these too. There's something about that fly that makes me all "ai poor guy, so cute - dont try so hard!", and it keeps me well interested throughout all the comics. Also find the other guy really cruelly funny. :D I'd love to see more.

these are awesome. some of the panels could use a little more black, I think, but that's just me.
