I got mine during my lunch break, but I haven't had a chance to read anything yet. I can't wait.

I stopped by Comics Factory last Saturday (the 14th) and they didn't have any.
What gives?

George at the Comics Factory said that they arrive this week. They should have copies in today.

It's so good! It tears at my heart that I'm not a part of something so amazing, ha ha. But at the same time it's very inspiring and makes me want to work harder.

Kazu's story really struck a chord with me, because I had been conflicted in the past with the same problem: about how I should be helping people, not selfishly making comcis. But then I had the same realization as in that story, so it was quite amazing. :D

There's some really deep, really subtle storytelling in this one. Pretty dang sophisticated.

I'm particularly fond of Sarah's and Kazu's entries this time. Something about those arcs that appeals to me.

Okay, I got my copy a few days ago and read it immediately. Since then I've been thinking it over. I found it disappointing-it left me feeling empty. Lemme unpack this for you. In many ways, my reaction to the book was similar to Kazu's reaction to Ratatouille, which I just saw last night (and which I loved, though not passionately.) There were lots of stories that I just didn't like or seemed like meaningless romps. Now there's always some stories that seem like that to me in every volume. But this one seemed more that way. So I counted it up, to make sure I wasn't just being silly. The results were:
Volume 1: liked 3/4 of the stories
Vol. 2: 2/3
Vol. 3: 3/4
and yet when I counted Vol. 4: 1/2
I only liked half the stories! The rest either made no sense to me, were boring, or actually induced distaste.
So, I feel like Kazu--I feel like I should like it, but I don't. I'm not going to take it upon myself to theorize as to why this is the case, I'm just saying what I think.

This in no way lessens my desire to write a story for Flight in the future, though.
