Koop: Watz for Koop
Nicola Conte: Jet Sounds
Jolie Holland: Escondidia

This is all pretty much KCRW stuff with the exception of Holland who is blues/folk.

What's summer without Dick Dale on the soundtrack? Have you ever heard Dick Dale perform one of his songs with his mouth? Supposedly that's how he composes his songs before he moves it onto guitar. It's pretty cool.

Been listening to various songs from the newest Brian Eno
"Another Day on Earth". It's quite somber. Keeps away the
big city raucous. I'm slacking off at work right now- lalalala

I've got the new Kanye West single "Diamonds for Sierra Leone." Man alive, can that guy produce a song and write a profound rhyme. I can't believe I have to wait another three weeks 'til "Late Registration" drops. I'm gettin' it Aug. 30, no question.

Hmm. The leaked Constantines album (Tournament of Hearts -- literal, or named after the huge curling tournament here in Canada? You decide.) has really grown on me. It really sounds like they sat down and listened to TV on The Radio's album and then went out and made their album, though. Some really spacey, slow burning rock songs.

The new Broken Social Scene song "7/4 (Shoreline)" is sooo good, too.

Lou Reed and Cradle of Filth.
I was listening to Lou Reed all day until i went to bed when I put Cradle on. Somehow I find that really good music to go to sleep to. :?

Got ahold of an advanced copy of DangerDoom. Danger Mouse and MF Doom doing an entire Adult Swim themed album? Way cool!

Bumpity bumpity bump.

I just discovered iTunes music store (yes, i'm very late on the train.) It gives me a chance to download random individual song's I've always liked but have never gotten around to having. And when I say "random" I mean RANDOM.

"Cuts You Up" by Peter Murphy
"What's the Frequency, Kenneth" by R.E.M.
"Smalltown Boy" by Bronski Beat
"Nearer Than Heaven" by the Delays
"Summer Wine" by Nancy Sinatra
"In Power We Entrust The Love Advocated" by Dead Can Dance

Edit: In retrospect, not totally random.

Yeah. I did the same when I did my first (and only) mp3 download. (What? I just like getting albums better. It's the thrill of the chase instead of the instant gratification. Besides, you get cover art...) Here's what I ended up getting:

"Mountains" by The Spinto Band
"Thank You Jack White (For The Fiber-Optic Jesus That You Gave Me)" by the Flaming Lips
"Loser" by Beck
"Albuquerque" by Weird Al Yankovic

That was a while ago, though. Right now I have Talking Heads' "Once In A Lifetime" stuck in my head. And you may think to yourself, "This is not my beautiful house!" And you may think to yourself, "This is not my beautiful wife!" And then we kick in with the Letting the days go by, let the water hold me down... letting the days go by, there is water underground... You know how it goes. It's catchy as anything.
