I CAN'T get enough of Ayreon and "Electric Castle", it's so mind blowingly cheesy. I'm like a moth to a flame...must..listen..to..Garden of Emotions...AGAIN.......

I haven't heard the new stuff by Figurine or Her Space Holiday, but I like both bands.
In case others don't know, Figurine has the guy from Dntel and Postal Service. The CD I have, transportation+communication=love I think it's called, wasn't as good as I hoped it would be but has "new mate," one of my favorite cutesy synth pop songs.
the guy from Her Space Holiday sometimes lives in Austin, so I think they're cool....

Splitting my attention between that leaked Beck album (Guero), Final Fantasy's Has A Good Home, Archer Prewitt's Wilderness, The Fiery Furnaces' EP, and Wolf Parade's CBC Radio 3 studio sessions. It's sooooo good.

Just made a mix for the ol' iPod of hip hop, old R&B, blues, funk, and some Brit-rock influenced faves including:
James Brown-Sex Machine
Sam & Dave-Hold on! I'm comin'!
Rogue Wave-Endless Shovel
OutKast-Prototype and Dracula's Wedding
The Roots-The Seed 2.0
Bob Dylan-Subterranean Homesick Blues
Got My Mojo Workin-Howlin' Wolf
Bright Eyes-Method Acting
At the Hop-Devendra Banhart
Manic Depression-Jimi Hendrix
Mo' Money, Mo' Problems- Notorious BIG
Do It Again-Steely Dan
Travelling Riverside Blues-Robert Johnson
Come Let Us Go Back to God-The Ladykillers Soundtrack
The Influence-Jurassic 5

Kean, how is the new Beck album? It sounds like it may just be really derivative of Odelay, from the little I've heard, but I'm far from writing it off. Also, is the Fiery Furnaces EP different from Blueberry Boat? I saw them open for the Shins last May and was really impressed but didn't like what little I heard from Blueberry Boat. EP sounded better.

I say, anyone who regularly listens to Jurassic 5 and Bob Dylan consecutively, deserves high praise :D

I'd recently been spinning the disks (plaques! hard drive! get it? get it?) and moving the heads towards every Bearsuit MP3 I could find - Kean you're a genius. Then I poked around on their site, and checked out the bands they played with. So now, I'm fully rocking out to White Rod, The V.C.s, Baby Bitch, and Capulet.

Reccomended Tracks:

White Rod - We need a new name for this thine (MP3) Kickass bassline .
White Rod - The Undecided Mind (MP3) Harder, alternative style
White Rod - The Ancient Art (MP3) Woo! Jazzy, swingy, almost
The V.C.s - No Reason (MP3)
The V.C.s - Ray Harryhausen Creates His Perfect 12" Woman (MP3)
Baby Bitch - Miss Miss (MP3)
Baby Bitch - I Wanna Be Corrupted (MP3)
Capulet - Boys vs. Girls (MP3)
Capulet - Whitewhiteredwhite (MP3)

In response to Willis, I've only heard the unfinished/demo version of the leaked Beck album, but it sure is fun. Nothing in terms of progressive music, but I don't see why the guy can't just kick back and enjoy himself every once in awhile (after Sea Change, he definitely deserves to).

As for the Fiery Furnaces' EP, it's certainly much more palatable than Blueberry Boat, I found. It feels more like a collection of singles rather than some of the stuff on Blueberry Boat (as I was telling a friend in reference to the Pitchfork review, just because an album is a challenging listen doesn't automatically make it a good one).

When I'm in that special kind of mood (like the past couple of days), I'll always pull out my 'holy trinity' of The Jesus and Mary Chain's Psychocandy, My Bloody Valentine's Loveless, and Primal Scream's XTRMNTR.

I suspect I'll still be playing these well into Valentine's Day.

Listening to lots of Any December. If you are into Ben Folds/Ambulance LTD/Keane type stuff, definitely give these boys a listen. They are making quite a name for themselves in the Buffalo area. They are pretty good friends of mine, so I had the priveledge of hanging out in the studio with them this afternoon as they worked on thier new album, which should be out in May. From what I heard today, the new album is shaping up to be excellent.

You can listen to thier entire debut EP from last year here, along with a live track or two. My favorite tracks are "Alora" and "Hide & Seek".

Carlin and rock are hilarious. I really liked alot of the guys from Last Comic Standing. Kings of Comedy was also great. Once I got to see Margaret Cho live, she's hilarious. Oh yeah, T-lapia I think since you're filipino (i think?), you'd really dig Rex Navarette. He's got 3 albums out and does lots of shows in frisco.
