Howl's Moving Castle Soundtrack

Post by gau dog » Wed Jan 12, 2005 4:34 pm

It's wonderful. :D Hisaishi does it again. Some familar cues sort of similar to Mononoke and Sprited Away, only more European. It's mostly a leisurely score. For some reason, the music makes me think of a circus acrobatic routine. The main theme sort of starts out with the same 3 notes as the Mononoke theme, which I thought was interesting. It seems like there's only two main musical motifs.

You can listen but not download here (I love this site):

did you notice that the main theme for Nausicaa and Laputa are very similar, too? The "tone" of the very first passage, as well as the three notes that lead into the next phrase of the song? (i'm listening to both right now... In fact the three notes are the same! A#-C-D!) But still, I love Hisaishi. I think he defined part of my childhood because I was so in love with the music of Gibli films.

BOO! i can't listen to the music on that link, maybe because i have a mac?

I have a mac and it's working. I'm not sure what you need to listen to it though...

This is nice. 8) I also love Joe Hisaishi.

Nice link! And sorry Sweet Baboo, it's gotta be you specific, my Mac is playing the tracks fine, there is a longer than usual load after the pop-up though. Maybe it's your browser... I'm using Safari.
