Death Cab For Cutie

Post by Kazu » Mon May 10, 2004 2:17 pm

I just had to start this one because they deserve their own thread. They're also amazing live...

I still haven't had a chance to see Death Cab live yet. *sigh* We Have The Facts And We're Voting Yes is my personal favourite album of theirs.

Ditto Kazu. I've seen them a few times and they put on a good show. The Postal Service is really good too. Pretty much anything that Ben Gibbard touches is gold.

Woo I've got to see them twice, although one show was way better than the other (I discussed it a little in the live music thread if you're interested)...

I agree with Kean, having heard "Scientist Studies" from that album really made me perk up and collect the rest of their stuff. "The Photo Album" has some really nice tracks on it too. I think Ben Gibbard gets some backlash for having such a pure emo voice or something, but he's really really good. Sometimes I think he could write better lyrics (thinking of "Transatlanticism"), but at his best he's really wonderful.

Gonna see them on Friday at the Wiltern... I can't wait! After seeing them live at Coachella, their soothing but highly energetic tunes have infected my brain... :D

Are those live recordings legally downloadable, even?

Just got a hold of one of their albums, also got Postal Service.. both are good but I am leaning more towards Death Cab.

Downloadable? Yes. Legal? Most likely no.

Whoa. Death Cab have hit the big time. They've signed a new record deal with Atlantic Records.

I would laugh so hard if they did. Take the money and run, boys!

And then maybe I'd die a little inside.
