I’m new

Post by Darwin » Fri Feb 09, 2007 6:23 am

Hello all,

I’m new here. I love drawing and I’ve seen amazing talents around here. I used to draw a lot, but I haven’t been really drawing for about 6 years now (5 years of college and 1 year working). I’m a graphic designer who has a passion for comics. hehe.

I want to start over and hopefully draw a lot this time.

Nice to meet you all!

I present you pilot boy:

Hi All,

Thanks for the kind words. the illustration above is for a current project in our company. so are the illustration i'm going to post. they’re a series of a theme. I couldn’t share anymore details. But I’ll post more as soon as I found any. My files are very messy!

I want to explore as many different style as possible. I just love drawing.

Welcome aboard Darwin. Beautiful stuff. Man if I take 6 days off I get rusty. After six years your work is amazing.

Why haven't I commented on this yet O.o

Well, if I had, the comment would go something like this: "Wow, love the style and want to see more complete pieces rather than just character studies"

Yeah, these 6 years, I do a lot of thinking and observing. i used to concentrate on human portrait. When I was in college I really want to concentrate on my studies, because my parents funded my tuition. I wouldn’t be a good son if I just fooled around. On the other hand, I think I have a pretty decent design knowledge and skills now, haha (i hope).

Then I got inspired by Hayao Miyazaki (man, he’s so good) and other beautiful cartoon illustrations. So this time, I’m going to draw instead of just looking.

Anyway, yesterday night I dig around my computer and found the rest:

Teenage Pilot Boy

Does this count as environment? hehe

Teenage Pilot Girl

I do realize my enviroment drawings suck, maybe because I’ve been concentrating on human faces (and they’re not that great too, haha). But I’ll draw more environment too this time. Because I want to make comic. That is one of my dreams. hehe.

I hope this time I can draw more often.

these additions are so nice! Love the smoothness in this, you pulled it off great, - not everyone can. I would love to see this as illustrations in books etc. :)

Yeah, this would make a nice comic, definitely. It's all with the dreamy quality, fragments of half-remembered dreams.

Welcome back after 6 years. I hope you're enjoying yourself! I did the same thing, took YEARS off of drawing. My hand got all rusty and hateful. Here's hoping you are back with it to stay. :)

Poor pilot boy's missing an eye, hope that doesn't hinder him when he flies :P

The whole point of drawing is in challenging yourself, so plunge into makeing a whole panel and I'm sure you'll get something decent out with these skills
