Thanks everyone! You guys Rock!

Chad: Glad you like it dude, yeah I've being playing around with different styles and it was really invigorating to do something with this kind of vibrancy. In the past I've always been about crazy detail, which is cool in it's own way, but my emphasis has very much switched to speed paints and lively illo's like this. I find I learn a lot more this way. Usually the end result is quicker and often more rewarding. I'll be drawing a line under these characters hopefully by the end of the year once the story is written. Just something i do in my spare time. Anyhoo, here are some of the speed paints related to the story ^_^

Thanks for looking!!

These are a lot of fun to do and only take an hour or two to do ^_^

Awesome stuff, and the speedpaints are really great!

I think I like the 3rd and the 5th the most.

Cheers Folks! I’m really pleased you’re diggin the speed paints!

Hehe they take between 1-2 hours. Um…lemme think, 1&2 took about 1hr10, No.3 Just over 2 because I still get uptight about speed painting characters…gotta work on that. 4th was an hour. 5th was just over 2…again noodling the characters and No.6 was actually less than an hour…but not by a lot. It’s not like I’m timing myself to the second, but if I give myself a deadline I find the paintings are better for it…nothing like a bit of panic to get you going.

These are actually all done in Photoshop, no Painter whatsoever for these ones…just after two years I finally made myself sit down and play with the brush settings! What can i say? It was on my 'to do' list ;p

I'm glad you guys are picking up on the energy; it comes from the panic of a deadline and listening to Metal like Nightwish , Tool and Prog ROCK like Spocks Beard!!!! HYEARGH! I’m really glad it’s coming through. For the landscape pieces I listen to BBC documentary soundtracks, helps to get me in the mood.

I’ve still got to work on my method though, these are my first and I’ve had a few clangers too. *shudders* Going to be playing around for a long while I'm sure.

Thanks again everyone, means a lot! :D :D
