My First Post = art dump

Post by tuck » Tue Feb 15, 2005 4:02 am

I'm new to these forums... The work is high calibre here I hope I could fit in.
These first two illustrations are misheard lyrics for a book that is being published. The first one is based on The Band's song Cripple Creek... the lyric is "Up on Nipple Creek, She sends me"
Image
The second one is based on Fleetwood Mac's song Dreams. The real lyrics are "When the rain washes you clean, you'll know" I illustrated it as "When the Rainbow shaves you clean, you'll know."

These last four are for a project I did about reality TV shows... I hope they're pretty much self explanetory...

I also have a website if you care to gander at it...
Thankyou.

Welcome tuck. :) Interesting style you have here, it works well with the surreal themes of your pieces. I think you've embodied the desperation of Reality TV Shows nicely in your series of illustrations. Good work. :)

i like your colors.

the panels are almost far side-esque. i love the expression on that hobo's face.

Nick: Thanks. but I think that reality TV shows have embodied in themselves their desperation.

bluebottle: thanks too

TheBeff: Far side-ehh? I think its the situational type comedy... with a touch of dryness.

Actually, I thought of 'The Far Side' too, especially looking at the 'Big Brother 17' one. Not that it's Gary Larson's cartooning style, but just the way you've captured bizarre moments in single frames. The 'Survivor' piece is my favourite, I like the way you've drawn the long-grass and created the scope of the background. I think you've spotted colours well on these.
