very nice.

But I like the first one more. The green...well, it does not make the girl look as warm or inviting.

Good work em. Personally I like the green and red colour scheme, I think the rusty shades play well with the greens. She doesn't seem as approachable, but I like that, it gives off a refreshingly different vibe from alot of the girlie pics out there....in fact I like the green one more, because it is different, makes you wonder what situation shes in, what she's thinking....Nice work em...

EM, great studies. I am fond of the second one because you are taking chances. If you added just a bit of natural or local color to the light side, I think you would silence those aweful critics    I like it the way it is though.

Thanks people.

The green one does seem to divide folk's opinions. Personally, I prefer the first one, but that has more to do with the face than the colours.

the face on the first one looks a little like your icon. but i like how you captured her "feel". and the colors are great.

Thanks guys.

I suppose it does. I guess my personal taste in faces is showing. The icon is the lovely Kristin Kreuk, of "Smallville" fame, while the first one was based on a picture of japanese model Ami Suzuki (I think I've spelled her name right), although I don't think it looks that much like her.
