I think the flak effect worked out pretty well. We tried to give the middle panel some feeling of depth.

Panel 4 there is particularly hot.

Half way threw this page we came up with the idea of having the Flyer try and protect it's rider from the fall. All the flyer drawings were finished, so Joe had to go back in and redraw elements to make the page work. I think the dust effects in the fall turned out nicely as did the light background in panel 3.

The bottom frame of the newest page is all photoshop because the flash background didn't blend in well with the explosion.

The top frame took a few extra days to finish, but I think it was worth the extra time. Some of the smoke effects turned out well too.
