New sketchbook - Black Widow update

Well just finished a sketchbook made from Panda poo (no joke), and now this weekend I started a really nice sketchbook my Mom in-law gave to me for Christmas. It’s 25 pages, leather bound and has these cool plastic sheets between the pages for protecting the other pages.

I set up a couple rules to challenge myself and to change up the way I do things. So I am only going to finish sketches in this book using a brush. That means Ink, washes, water colors, acrylics etc. here’s the first two.

Great work! Those poop books seem to be pretty popular these days, too, but mostly for their novelty value. How are they for actually working on?

well to sum up those poo sketchbooks in one word, they are CRAP. It's like drawing on toilet paper. But I managed ok. My daughter bought it for me as a gift and it is now full of sketches and ready to give to her for her birthday.

While drawing this sketch I felt way out of my comfort zone. It’s not typically how I draw characters. I think studying guys like Bob Layton and Jack Kirby will teach me something, heheheh don’t know what but, there is a lesson here. I can feel it.

odd how this scanner made it look a bit golden...

I like the Batgirl; there's some volume variations on her thighs and her shoulders seem kind of masculine, but the sketch has a nice energy to it.

The Ironman one is nice. I think we've all been inundated with that character lately thanks to the upcoming movie, but yours looks kind of unique
