The Comics Before 1945

Post by B Moore » Mon Jan 03, 2005 5:21 pm

This is a great survey of newspaper comics up to the end of WWII, with brief bios of major creators in each era and pages of sample strips. Includes the classics like Krazy Kat, Thimble Theater/Popeye, Prince Valiant, Little Nemo in Slumberland, Polly and Her Pals, Terry and the Pirates, etc. etc. as well as examples of lesser-known but interesting strips. (Interesting how many strips on dreams and dreamlike situations followed on the heels of Little Nemo.) Definitely worth checking out.
