Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story

Post by Coheteboy » Sat Jun 26, 2004 1:07 am

Has nobody here seen this gem yet? OH man this has got to be one of the funniest movies in the theater right now. Yes... way funnier than that awful piece of poop Shrek.

This movie is kinda like Old School combined with Zoolander and man.. it is a riot. It took a while to get it going, introducing the side characters but once it did... it was a wild romp the rest of the way. I highly recommend it!

And if you DO catch it in theaters, stay all the way through the credits (you should really make it a habit anyway) as there is a funny bit tacked on. Oh man, this one is for my dvd library for sure!

It personally reminded me of "BaseketBall", except that Dodgeball is an actual game. I very much enjoyed the movie, and the phrase "Crushed under 2 tons of irony" has now been added to my vocabulary.

Good, good stuff. Definitaly one of the funniest I've seen in a long time. Are we going to see a renewed interest in the sport now? Our local AM sports talker seems to think so :?

I hate to say that I didn't buy it as much as you guys did. I recognize it for how ridiculous it means to be and how it plays on silly formulaic nature of sports movies, but I still didn't get into it for some reason. Love Ben Stiller, love Vince Vaughn and the Office Space guy, in love with Christine Taylor ( ), but it just wasn't happening for me :(

Awww... care to share your reasons why it didn't work? I know the humor isn't for everyone. It's kinda like how mockumentary movies just don't work for me, all while my friends laugh their asses off (spinal tap, best in show, etc).

No! The humor is for me. Maybe a little overdone, though? It had its moments, just like Zoolander did (freak gasfight accident... haha); just a little too cheesy and over-the-top. I am a big fan of Best in Show and Waiting for Guffman, though - for the record.

I didn't really dig it either. I was looking forward to it, but it just fell flat for me. :?
