I'm really glad to hear that, actually. It was originally called "Edge City", but we found out that was already used by a couple of comics. I tried to think of something without the "City" in it, because there are so many strips with that in the title. But the only thing that stuck in my head and sounded right was "Rook City." There's no real significance in it... like you, I just like how "Rook" sounds. And it really is about this city of kooky characters, not just Toby (the main character). As future pages will show.

The continuing webcomic at http://www.rookcity.com! A new page every Tuesday (or late Monday night, actually).
This is actually the first Rook City story. You can tell it's not as polished as the newer ones, but it's an important piece of the overall tale. Since this is an older tale, we'll be posting more than one page each week. Here ya go...

As always, any feedback is very welcome!
Thanks for looking,
-Seth

Hi Seth, I enjoyed your Rook City strip. It's a nice spoof on the film noir genre. I know you had to limit it to 4 strips but it would've been cool to develop some more suspects and reasons into each of their motives. He's an interesting character though, that Sam. How's the self publishing going?

Thanks, Maxwell!
Yeah, the noir thing was fun to mess around with. If it was just meant for a comic book, I probably would have drawn it out more. I just thought that four episodes (over four weeks) was stretching it as far as I could in a newspaper. If you've read our archive then you know that we kind of deal with a different genre in every story.
We're reprinting our first mini, Random Ink, as a full-size comic. That one includes "Sleuth" and "Bullets & Bedpans" in it, along with a bunch of non-Rook City stuff. We'll also be putting out Rook City as its own series, with all of the stories to date in it very soon.
