Zita the Spacegirl News (page 5)

Post by househatke » Tue Dec 22, 2009 2:15 pm

Boy, it's been a long time since I've posted a Zita comic! I have this short webcomic for show, and I'm hoping to do a few more before the first book comes out. Here's the latest web comic:

It's been so long, most people on the board here probably don't remember the webcomics. This is one of the better ones that I sort of "cleaned up" -mostly redrawing Zita's face, so that it fits with the way that I draw the character now.

I'm working on relaunching the site, and in the meantime I'll post any new webcomics here. Enjoy!

I particularly like how economical you are with your linework in this - less is more, I tend to think! You pack a lot of expression into very straightforward strokes! Very attractive!

Thanks! I'm trying to do one of these shorts a month, if I can manage. In the meantime I did some little comics for Hourly Comics Day yesterday. Here they are, a little window into my life:

I love these. I love them completely and totally, in ways that man should not love an inanimate object.

But seriously. What I love is that they're so expressive, and seem so effortless. They're another example of what I believe comics ought to be - not an imposture where the art overwhelms the reader with the artist's own megalomania. They're relatable - they take you out of yourself, so much that you don't even really notice you're reading comics.

Totally terriffic.

Really great work! You make it look so easy. Character studies is my favorite I guess.
