Lantern Season

Finally finished another comic! This one's pretty big, and explores the relationship between expectation, reality and perception.

I'm going to be perfectly honest with you: I am a huge fan of your work, I do not understand this comic. And I tried.

I' d say it's pretty simple, even though it's not straightforward.

The author said it: it's about expectation, reality, perception. And memories are made up of a varying mix of those things. If one of these aspects is dominant, a memory dies more easily and it becomes harder to resurrect the events that really were... And only some people are aware of this. Most of us dig up impressions from our mind and think those are memories, then we build our emotions and expectations upon them. And all the while it's actually something we mostly made up, using stuff from within ourselves.

Taking all that into account, a nice one, Dresden Codak. I guess the key is not trying too hard. Just let it flow and enjoy.
