Piper's Pet (UPDATE: Now with actual comic!)

Hey guys!

I know it's been a while since I've posted around here.
I've finally graduated and I'm now on the market! I went to NYCC this semester (first comic-con ever!) and picked up a little gig with Dark Horse comics. They've finally posted it here:

http://myspace.com/darkhorsepresents?is ... storynum=4

It's just a silent two-pager (and the colors can get kind of whacky on different monitors), but please check it out and let me know what you think!
Thanks!

-Nick

u_u Mine has wonky colours. Oh well. I got the idea at least, can't wait to read more of your stuff, keep it up!

Since MDHP had some server issues, many people saw the colors as inverted yellow electric-boogaloo, so I've been given permission to post it myself! So, since it's way nicer to be able to read these things all-the-way through on the forum instead of linking out (even though it's old news) I thought I'd throw this one up here:

Hey Nick! I didn't know you were a flight forum-er! This is Amelia, the one I.D. kid from Shanth's comic book story-telling class last year! How have you been? Your comic looks awesome btw. (:

Great comic, I really like your line art and colours. Any chance you will continue with the Alfonse and Domingo story?

This is ADORABLE. I love the way you draw the little girl. Her expressions and body-language are PRICELESS!

Wow, beautiful work. There's nothing like seeing someone who can really use colors like this. Awesome.

You sir, should have no trouble finding work. Everything I've seen from you completely blows me away. I can't stop looking at your colors, absolutely beautiful. Such stunning vibrancy that is so difficult to make work well, and you make it look easy.

This is really nice work, Nick.

Here are some quick notes... the darker areas are getting a bit lost, so I would recommend lightening your darker values. You may also want to see how it reads in CMYK, to make sure it works well for print. Quick question: are you using a Cintiq hooked up to a Macbook? If so, that would explain the dark values and saturation levels. In any case, the drawings are fantastic, and the mood of the piece is wonderful. Great work! :D

Lovely. Simply lovely. The Big Fish's expression in the last panel fills me with delight.

Checked out your site, everything looks really good! And you have a flying manta ray in one of your comics! I love those (so there are some in our comic, too :))
