Hand Turkeys

Post by Ian Jay » Fri Nov 18, 2005 12:41 pm

Thanksgiving is coming up next week. Here in America, we celebrate Thanksgiving as a holiday devoted to being thankful for what we have. (It's sort of as a buffer for the upcoming holiday season, which we celebrate by forgetting what we have and instead aspiring to have more.) A time-honored tradition in school on Thanksgiving is to make "hand turkeys"; that is, use a marker to trace your hand, then stick a beak on the thumb and add legs. See? It looks sort of like a turkey! Now get thankful!

I did this one in Art History today (medium: Crayola Washables on Xerox paper).

Feel free to post your own! It's fun and festive! As well as pretty pointless!
