anime greats
Anime
I went to best buy and bought Cowboy Bebop for 23 bucks. Then they jacked up the price. I love the series and now have the first four sessions. It's great how they are bounty hunters but never actually get the bounty.
I love spirited away.
Flcl -I've seen some of it and really liked it.
Lain is great too.
Also Vampire D bloodlust was fun.

Just found out today in a press release on the Nausicaa.net website that Madman entertainment (The biggest local Australian company for Anime) is releasing the entire Miyazaki collection over 2004 and 2005 on DVD.
I had to not only change my pants twice...but also retreive my socks from the other side of the room as they had blown off. Oh yes.
here is zee list of releases -
Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind (1984)
Laputa: The Castle in the Sky (1986)
My Neighbour Totoro (1988)
Kiki's Delivery Service (1989)
Only Yesterday (1991)
Porco Rosso (1992)
Pom Poko (1994)
Whisper of the Heart (1995)
My Neighbours the Yamadas (1999)
The Cat Returns (2002)
Madman Entertainment plan to release all ten Studio Ghibli titles over the year between April 2004 and May 2005. Theatrical screenings and a Ghibli film-festival touring select locations will showcase the collection. Takahata's GRAVE OF THE FIREFLIES (release date 11 February) will also form part of Madman's Ghibli Collection.

Oh ho...YES!! So who's coming to Australia for the film festival?

does anyone else feel that anime dvds are way too much money? i mean.. it costs alot for one dvd. and they only put like 2-3 episodes per dvd...
i don't think that's worth it, hence why i'm usually forced to buy either bootlegs or download fansubs.
In the case of bootlegs, i pay only 30 dollars for a whole series, instead of paying 40 dollars for only 2-3 episodes.. it's alot of money....

So based on some of the recommendations from this thread, I watched FLCL for the first time this morning with a friend of mine. The show has broken my brain. It makes no sense. It is so awesome. I will never watch it again. I want to buy the DVDs and have its puppies.
(kean melts into a gleeful little puddle on the floor as brain fluid oozes out his ears.)

the soundtrack is also great.
i've got 2 OST's and still listen to it regularily.
Unforutunetly, there aren't too many others like FLCL, but that's what makes it so special..
Have you seen em all? only 6 episodes.
well..
the only other good anime that's even shorter than FLCL is "Read or Die" it's 3 episodes.... odd (not as odd as FLCL), but a great set to watch. And opening isn't bad either.. well, not unless your american, of course. Then it's kinda sad.

I heard they were making a full length film (anime) of FLCL. Don't quote me, or shoot me if i'm wrong.

not because it's true..
because i hope not..
that, and the fact that they might do a live action evangelion movie.
