Design-wise it looks like a good start - you may play with it some. I would think about smooshing the type down with the horizontal line and making it justified in more of a defined block shape. I'd love to see some expressive eyebrows on this dude. Also, the first thing I thought of when I saw his name was the camp food - 'granola, oats, raisins, peanuts...' though I don't imagine that has much to do with this guy :)

I'll echo hope with the likeness... people DO talk like that, but it's so hard to effectively translate it to print. I'm sure that's a pretty accurate transcription, though.
