I think this is great! The styles of the buildings in the background are a little different than the foreground, but it doesn't bother me too much. In the future I would just make sure that your line weight was the same though. Otherwise, nice job!

Thanks all. It was a lot of fun.

And Scott, look no further than your hometown. Toronto has it's own Dr. Sketchy:

I love how the grass swirls off into different directions, and the shadow of the rope.

Yeah, I have to concur. Although, I do really really like how you colored up that dark cloud. On its own it's great!

Sketchies

Once a month or so a group of local Detroit area artists get together to draw from live models. It's a sort of franchise of Molly Crabbapple's Dr. Sketchy in New York. Yeep! That's pretty cool. Like that you started with a dark color and worked the colors up over it. Gives it a lot of depth. And I like the creature too. I would like to see maybe a street light or something partly illuminating the building in the background as it's lost back there. And the creature...

This is wonderful! This might sound odd, but I often am attracted to an illustration by one thing and how I liked how it was done. For some reason I really like how you did Alice's hair. The yellow with the blue shading over it, and the lighter halo around the edges.

I'm starting a new experiment today. I'm attempting an online children's book serial kinda thing based on the illustration in the original post. The plan is to add new pages on a regular basis. The story is rather open ended so we'll just see where it takes us. So I present to you the first page of ...
