Half a millimeter? that's not even a remotely perceptible difference!
I think you're right about context. There's just no other way to account for it.

I may be painting some of these later.

Superhero sketches

I have these in my Moleskine - I've not posted much in a while, but I'm still drawing. I have a painting class now that takes up a lot of time, but I figured I'd dump these while I have the time. Oh, by the way - has anyone noticed that anatomy issues always seem to pop out more when the drawing's b...

I think that Superman study is really interesting - Why is he dressed the way he is, and why is he so scrawny? I'm being completely serious - this is a different take on Superman, but I want to know the story behind it. Care to enlighten me?

I like that you didn't just copy the lines from panel 1 - panel 3 - you actually drew it. That's cool. But you've got some pretty big anatomy issues that I think you should work on. Some studies of faces and skulls would be a good place to start, since this sequence depends so heavily on facial expr...

I remember feeling like this... now it just seems to come and go, year after year. Excellent linework! Excellent use of the minimal shading! Thank you for posting this! I love all the stuff you did with the individual "tick"s in each panel. Very creative.

I like your more finished work a lot. I'm assuming it's the virgin Mary in the blue robe with the red and white? That one is really strong. I think if you had been more gradual with shadows it would really add to the piece. Also, you did a great job reserving the whites. It looks like it could be a ...

Ahh. That's how God meant markers to be used. :) It loooks like he's standing in front of a bush - really good impression of foliage (if that's what you're going for.) Gorgeous fur details.

I like the color on her left leg - the way you handled the light in that painterly fashion is great. It took me a second to get the starbursts around her ears as noise - I think there are better choices for those than screentones, that's all.

I like that palette, but there's something wonky with the lighting: the light seems to be coming into the water from above and behind, but the shadows are cast as if they're above, front, and to the left. But you really did capture a feeling of depth and being underwater - good stuff.

That's a decent composition. Since you did watercolor pencils, why don't you wet-brush it around a bit? I think a basic wash would do a lot for this.
