Tegan and Sara , awesome stuff. after listening to alot of their stuff, they've got a pretty wide range..alot of pop-ish songs, alot of more garage-y type songs, etc... i like "Freedom" and "Superstar" Arcade Fire - I never really sat down and listened to them, always though they were a little medi...

I like the movie regardless, but I got so excited over all the hot bondage prostitutes with guns I was disappointed when they didn't do anything . WAH. [/end killjoyism] You mean, besides slaughter Michael Duncan Clark's character and all his cronies? The comics were so intense and personal, that t...

I thought it was atrocious. The comics didn't translate to film well at all. I wrote a review of it, where I go in depth on this issue read it here.

I think Kung Fu Hustle is much better than Shaolin Soccer. The fight scenes are better, and there isn't quite as much slow exposition that at times felt pointless in Shaolin. Also, the special FX are much more nuanced and well done. Some of the things I thought they could have taken further, like a...

Doug is coming to speak at my college at the end of April, so my fingers are crossed that he'll bring some preview stuff from EBJ. If he does, I'll tell you everything I'm allowed to.

Info on Doug's lecture can be found here. You can also PM me.

Man, I posted this a while ago and didn't hear anything! Thanks for the response. I currently own Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited, and John Wesley Harding. Blonde on Blonde is next on my list, especially since I'm such a fan of High Fidelity. I look forward to hearing Blood on the Tr...

DJ Shadow

I recently picked up the Palm Pictures DVD for the film Scratch, the documentary on turntablism. It piqued my interest and I'm starting to get addicted to the DJ Shadow tracks I've picked up from his Preemptive Strike album. I'm curious if anyone has any recent information on Shadow, what he's up to...

Reminds me of dynamite hack's "boyz n tha hood." I downloaded the Landed single from Fold's new album "Songs for Silverman" and am excited to see what he's up to with the new album. Landed sounds a lot more like refined 70's pop songsters than I'm used to hearing from ol' Ben.

Did anyone else see the footage from the San Diego Con? From the little I've actually seen of this flick, the acting may be it's biggest flaw.

There I go being skeptical again.

Earthboy Jacobus- Doug TenNapel

Doug has finished EBJ and it will be released May 18 from Image. available for pre-order on Amazon. Kazu's given it his thumbs up (check the Tommysaurus Rex thread), and I've seen some of the early concept work and know some of the story. It centers on Jacobus, a boy who falls to earth while being c...

If I didn't already own all the books, save some of the treasuries which are reprints of stuff I have in the smaller, square-shaped books.
