Man, does this album ever get better and better. I have to be in the mood for it, since it's so beautiful and epic (I mean, can you just sit down and watch Lawrence of Arabia?). Everyone should at least listen to a few tracks. Arcade Fire fans, especially. Lots of beautiful orchestration and fun mel...

I just saw James Brown in concert. It was all sorts of awesome. Ha! Wah! Nimmynimmynimmy, goodgah! Gon' break a sweat-ah! That is awesome. Speaking of awesome legends in concert, my girlfriend's dad was telling me about a Stones show he caught in '72, on Mick Jagger's birthday. Stevie Wonder opened...

I finally saw this. I took my daughter to see it today and loved a lot of the gags and characters. I just didnt really care for the story, I didnt have any sense of urgency for the need to get back. although the point was friendship etc... I loved a lot of the references to other films, like the re...

There's something about a second viewing of The Godfather that makes it mean so much more.

I've never seen La Strada, but read a review of it recently, and it really compelled me to see it. Not to sound too elitist, but I can't stand the worldview Fellini projects on to his later work, that being anything post 8 1/2, but La Strada sounded like it had a little more heart than what he tradi...

Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Definitely my favorite. The Chronicles are designed to be entertaining stories, and I'd imagine they could be appreciated by anyone who enjoys a good story.

Music Magazines

I'm finishing up a year's subscription to the British mag MOJO, and will miss it dearly. I also read Paste, on occasion.
To me, Rolling Stone is pretty irrelevant, as is SPIN. Maybe I'm just trying to be jaded here.

Anyone have any good music resources to recommend?

If you get a chance, pick up the most recent issue of Paste Magazine. It's got a great interview with him. I don't think he wants revenge, I think he's just more forthright about his feelings than people are comfortable with. I wasn't a huge Pumpkins fans, though I definitely appreciate them, but I'...

My show was pretty great, too. After every song they would all start fiddling with their guitars, drinking bottled water, blowing their nose (Doug), smoking and conversing, which started to piss off the drunk people in the crowd. I thought it was funny, and was wondering if they did it at their oth...

Thanks again for the recommendations, guys. Unfortunately, the Frames played at the same time as Modest Mouse, so I didn't see them. Jem was a kind and gracious performer, though I wasn't too into her set. The Dears played as I ate my massive Philly Cheesesteak sandwich and drank my Lynchburg lemona...

How could I forget Wilco? The evening lineup is Arcade Fire, Wilco, Kanye West, Modest Mouse, and the Pixies. I'll watch music for seven hours straight. This is Sasquatch Festival: www.hob.com/sasquatchfest . I'm hoping to check out bloc party, but I think they're playing at the same time as Arcade ...

Festival Recommendations

I'm headed to a festival next week and I'm only familiar with a few artists on the lineup. I'm posting who's going to be there, so if you're familiar with some of these artists and can make a recommendation as to who I should check out, I'd be really appreciative. I'm already familiar with Aqueduct,...
