I revisited this recently and it still holds up as a darn fine movie. Rarely have I found such satisfying work. It would be a cryin' shame for it to go overlooked. Has anyone else seen it? Bandai has since released a US DVD.

http://gamer.blorge.com/2009/06/07/exposed-natel-milo-smoke-and-mirrors-by-peter-molyneux/ I'd suspect this thing were completely scripted and rehearsed on both sides, but simple AI word recognition is a nice feature. Nobody's ever going to make a real convincing artificially intelligent conversati...

It may have taken away some of the awe but Russell underneath the house could've been funny too. With his size, he'd get stuck just trying. Looking at the trailer, I can see "and the director of Monsters, Inc." but no Russell. It's like that garden hose gag. They fade Russell's grunts to trick you. ...

Yeah, it was good and well made. Great animation, great music. I almost felt like I was watching an elderly Indiana Jones (as he should've been). They even have their own Shortround! Ellie and the beginning was the best part of the movie. I mean it was jumpy and made me wonder why a girl like Ellie ...

Now that I look at it again, my story IS pretty stupid! But it was kinda fun. Here's the drafts, from the original 6 pager to the 3 page hack & slash: http://jamesmarstudio.com/secretidentities/IdentityIcons.doc And here's a few fav sketches: http://jamesmarstudio.com/secretidentities/takoman.jpg (H...

It's one of those "let's get even for being victims of comic racism by making our own racist comics" type of projects.

I'm kidding.

Chris Pine did fine for his role but the more I think about it, it was really a run of the mill performance. His kirk needed more quirk. Not quite as distinct compared with a Shatner or a Stewart.

The actors who portrayed Bones, Spock, Scotty, Chekov did pretty good.

Nice pinup, Kazu. Are you going to draw the whole story out? I got through the first round of submission acceptance of SI, did some sketches, and was forced to grind a bunch of edits but in the end I was cut. Their book turned out nice though it's interesting to compare the changes in their prelimin...

Yeah for what it is, it was exciting and cleverly done. The characters are well executed, setup, with plenty of homages. But it's not a brainy or thoughtful movie. Entertainment wise however, it's an A.

I agree. I couldn't stop laughing when they showed the interrogation with the pixeling out of the alien cricket's face and the fake language. And I know the actors don't see it when it's there, but I thought the interrogator did a pretty decent deadpan. I certainly hope they have a waterboarding sce...
