Cool, I may show up for this... I may even buy the book if it's not price gouged!

First off... you have a cintiq???! Second... explain how one acquires the nickname "Latino Heat". Third... quit eating those damn Skittles! Eat some real fruit.

These are fun to read.

Re: Disney to acquire Marvel for 4 billion

That's such a mismatch. I wonder if they're just having Warner Brothers envy. Batduck vs Captain Donald. SuperBugs vs Hulk Mickey. I could just see them adding Spiderman's Enchanted Castle to Disneyland. Or incorporating Silver Surfer into It's a Small World. Best yet, Donald Duck can finally meet H...

Re: Ponyo on a Cliff (2008)

If any other ordinary artist made a movie with confusing elements, most would call him a bad filmmaker. But since Miyazaki-san has proven himself such a genius at this art, when he does something confusing, it can be hard to consider it flawed. We love him too much. Fujimoto's an antagonist though a...

Re: Ponyo on a Cliff (2008)

Miyazaki always pulls off the emotionalisms in his stories very well. I'm fine with less than climactic endings, and ending on the high emotion of love is good enough but all the other characters were treating it like some big test and it was just a pleasant affirmation. It felt like nothing. There ...

Re: Ponyo on a Cliff (2008)

Seen it, liked it. It's got all the heart even though I'd agree about being uneasy with the illogical mechanics of the ending. Miyazaki continues his unique storytelling. Works fantastic as a film experience, though flawed if you try to make sense of things.

Re: Fablewood Webcomic

I hate to be critical but "side" and "skies" don't rhyme. Maybe "I will never leave your eyes." would work better?

Anyway, it's definitely a pleasure to read Fablewood and JP's story.

That was both incredible and disturbingly freaky at the same time, which makes sense considering the Hatter's strong resemblance to Carrot Top.

SPOILER BELOW: . . . The only thing I took issue with was that "test of love" because they built it up a lot, but then I didn't feel like it was a real test at all. Also, how cool were those shots of the world below the water once it all flooded? I love fish swimming around on roads. Ha ha, yeah, t...

I remain uneasy with Miyazaki's increasingly illogical ("sensual" as Kosaka Kitaro, a Ghibli artist, put it) approach to his post Mononoke movies. As opposed to the "rationality" and "intellect" of Takahata as Kosaka further differentiated the two in simplification. Still even with this dreamy appro...
