Woo! Nice use of color! I love watercolor paper... the texture on the first image is to die for.

it's a neat feel you establish with them and i'm intrigued to see how a landscape or architectural thing would be designed in this world. You know, I did design all sorts of neat buildings and vehicles for this sudo Middle Eastern fantasy world -- it was sort of steam-punk-ish, but I ended up using...

I'm going to take "grossest creature ever" as a compliment and not tell you what happens to it at the end of the story less I gross you out further. The first image is from the comic I've been working on for a while, and is more sinister threat then icky monsters, but oh, I love to do both sort of v...

De-lurking to post art (Ooo! Update with more art! may 27)

I'm not great with this message board etiquette... should I only post art if I'm a Flight artist or an amateur looking for feed back? Or is it OK to post art because I think this is a neat group and I want to join in? I like talking to other artists! I'm ridiculously shy. In the stupidest ways. Real...

Great use of light in the panels. That glow is really effective.

I love the Lady and cats movie poster. Makes me think of classic Italian film ads of the 1960's.

The cover of your book is really lovely. I like your use of color in your strips.

There are some incredible artists in places like Finland and Norway that seem to get over looked even by "Euro-comic fans" like myself. I hope your book does well!

Hmm Nemu, it looks like you and I are of the same thought again. Although to second Kazu's post, a lot of what I "read" these days are French albums and comics, to the point where my language skills are actually improving just out of desperation to discover books that hold my interest. Of course FLI...

Part of the problem with shopping at comic book stores is that their selection is really limited. Years ago Forbidden Planet was THE shop in NYC. You could find anything -- Euro comics, Japanese magazines, import toys... then they changed. These days they sell pretty much what you would find everywh...

Wow, really lovely. It has, almost, a little of the Dave McKean look to the colors and finishing. That's a good thing. I like Cheshire's giant head.

The witch illustration is really well done. Have you seen the author's drawings for his own work? http://www.philip-pullman.com/pages/con ... ?PageID=90

I really enjoyed these books when I read them a few years back.

I also really like using Copic Multiliner SP pens. IMO they're a bit better than the microns and have a lot of different sizes too. They are also refillable and have a metal shell casing. Do the Copics work for you? I bash through them in no time... maybe it's the batch I bought, or the paper I use...

When I started out (at age 16 or so, a long time ago!!) a professional cartoonist taught me to ink with a brush (Windsor-Newton size 0 and 00 with FW ink). But I found after a while that I wanted a more detailed, woodblock style to my comics, so I moved on to technical pens (rapidiographs and Micron...

I'm a great believer in the good old mass mailing: Print up a lovely postcard with your book cover on the front and info on the back and mail/give out to anyone who matters. Not to mention, postcards are just neat! www.overnightprints.com makes this fairly affordable. They also do neat things like r...

A person I know went to work for Lulu and certainly had good things to say about them at the time. I've lost touch with him though, and I've never used them personally. I really stress quality issues in printing, yesterday I was thumbing through a bound comic collection that had a great cover and in...
