Thanks to all commentors. I did some more work on this (actually started as soon as the crits came in.) I've posted the edit to the first post (though the scan could be cleaner.) My original pose was... poorly thought out. It's now much less frozen. The head has been reduced a bit. I'm still not sur...

flood - you're right. The jump pose from the movie would be hard to replicate, but I think I need to reposition the arms. Maybe the legs too.

Kid Galactus - yep, Orlando. :) You might be right about the head. I'll take a second look.

Frank - how do you mean?

Hong Kong dive (update 9/18 - Finally got it right!)

So I dropped off the boards once again... I wanted to draw the new armor from Dark Knight. I'll continue working on this, but tell me what you think of the sketch. http://img229.imageshack.us/img229/7041/hongkongdivewzm1.jpg EDIT: http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/7149/hkdive2wao6.jpg EDIT: ...

Wow. This is really good. Your attention to lighting is incredible. The way the room is transforming into a forest is really well done. My favorite part is the dragon skin.

I have just one reservation. The boy's expression is sort of playful... it just doesn't seem to fit for me.

Those lights are a great idea. I never thought to draw the surroundings in figure drawing classes. hm... I may have to try that sometime. I think you've got a pretty good feel for the body in general... a couple of minor issues: Watch the junctions around the hips. Draw what you see, not what you th...

Painting class

Hey guys, I am so sorry I've been absentee again. I don't know how some people manage to keep making art while they're going to school and working. Anyway, I'm taking intermediate painting as my only studio class this semester. (I skipped beginning painting because it doesn't count toward my electiv...

Yep. I'm not a fan of the horror genre, but this is excellent storytelling.

The woodcut is very good - i like the way the hatching doesn't exactly follow contours, but it suggests wind and maybe "being swept up/away." There is one gripe - the field between the reaper and the viewer. A dead zone like that adds tension - but maybe it should be a more gradual progression. The ...

I love the virgin Mary and I love the fruits. (: That sounds a little... conflicted. sorry, didn't want to pass that up. Yes, the fruit paintings are probably the strongest in this second round. Definitely don't stop sketching, but lined paper isn't what you should be drawing on. Pick up a ch...

Ah. Good call. Drawing at the desk. My secret to surviving six art history lectures a week. Well, I guess I just keep flipping the page and looking at it from farther away.
