Yup, that's right! Ballantine and Villard are both imprints at Random House.

If you want them all to be the same format, you want the SECOND listing. That's the one published by Villard, who has reprinted it along with volume 1. Villard is the publisher of volumes 3 and 4, as well.

The first of the two listings you posted is from the book's original publisher, Image Comics.

'Plate' or 'smooth' surface Bristol board will yield a pretty smooth line when you're working with ink or pen or brush. Vellum surface Bristol tends to be rougher, and cold press watercolor papers will give you the roughest texture.

Every artist has their own preference!

I'll be there! I'll be dividing my time between the Kids Tent and my own table inside the show. And my Comics Bakery table mates, Dave Roman, John Green, and Marion Vitus will be by my side!

I'm debuting the newest Baby-sitters Club graphic novel, Mary Anne Saves the Day, at TCAF. :D

I'll be at Small Press Table P2, along with my friends from The Comics Bakery. I'll also be doing some signing time at the Flight table, and I've got a signing at the Scholastic booth on Friday (3-4 PM), too!

I've been using a Pitt Artist's pen for lettering and panel borders--the F or S widths seem to work best for me. Most of my inking is with a Windsor & Newton Series 7 brush, size 1 or 2, and Dr. Marten's waterproof India ink. Little details, eyeballs, and patterns are done with those teeny little Mi...

If you're just working in black and white, try scanning as bitmap or lineart (600 dpi or greater). There will be no graytones then, because it's only picking up solid black or white areas.

Ooh! I read that a few weeks ago too, on the loan/recommendation of a friend. I was really surprised I hadn't heard of it before actually, and liked it a lot. Very sweet and light-handed, considering the subject matter.

You could also ink over a lightbox on a new piece of paper, which also saves you the trouble of erasing pencil lines!

It could be a buzzer-style doorbell...then you have several options to play with.

Also, Bing-Bong can sort of work, as can Ring, or Ding, which can be extended or shortened as necessary.
