Re: The Secret of Kells

It is playing at select location next weekend: At the AMC 8 in Burbank (that would be in the mall) from Dec. 4th to the 10th. Check your local listing!

Re: Ponyo on a Cliff (2008)

I actually liked Fujimoto's character a lot. I initially expected him to be the villain as well, but realizing throughout the film that he's really just a concerned father was fantastic, and made him much more sympathetic. He's still an obstacle, but not malicious. I hear a lot of people talking ab...

Re: Ponyo on a Cliff (2008)

Does anyone know if there're any theaters in Los Angeles that are screening Ponyo subtitled rather than dubbed? I'm going to watch it either way, since I'm a huge Miyazaki fan, but I prefer to see it in Japanese if possible. I don't remember seeing any offering that possibility. You may have to wai...

Re: District 9

Add my vote in as a satisfied viewer.
Despite a few little plot holes (nothing compared to Transformers), the story was fun and I definitely enjoyed the ride.
Definietely a fun "what if" science fiction twist on our lives.

Re: Ponyo on a Cliff (2008)

Definitely a very sweet, magical film in the same category as Totoro. Some great character moments, some wonderful animation (the whole storm sequence, wow!). Like a few people, I guess I was expecting a bit more out of the test of love, but ah well. It's all good. A bit sad though that Fujimoto's c...

Re: Spiralkicker

There are some really great concepts there.
At the very top, I like how you took a nice, simplified design and expanded upon it (the simple designs were so cute!).
A lot of these would be perfectly at home in games like Final Fantasy. Really nice work!

Re: Moon starring Sam Rockwell

Also add me to the list of people who saw and loved it. SO great to see a sci-fi movie that didn't involve space battles against aliens or asteroids about to destroy earth. Not that I have anything against those when well done, mind you. Moon was such a breath of fresh air. Like being stuck in a clo...

There's also the train, that will take you straight to downtown San Diego. More expensive than car (around 70$), but may be an option (and you won't have to deal with traffic).

Giuseppe is extremely prolific in his art, but most of his material is being printed in Italy. One of the comics he has illustrated that has been published in North America is called "Truth, Justin and the American Way" (illustrated by him, story by Aaron Williams and Scott Kurz). If there are more ...

Absolutely wonderful reinterpretations of the characters! Love them all, but I think Yogi tugs at my heart a bit more. There's something in his head proportion that is just perfect :D
