Tmara: Yeah, I throw in a lot of non-local color. Sometimes the entire scene will change to a different color depending on the character's mood. Not sure where I picked up that technique. The differing style of rendering (flat characters versus painted backgrounds) was done that way to make the cha...

Thanks guys. Glad to get a little feedback. MG & andfrewwales: Yeah, his elbows do appear and disappear based on how I feel like drawing him. I wanted him to be able to be all firm and serious sometimes, like an action hero, and other times go into old 20's cartoon mode, arms flailing. andrewwales: ...

The Miner preview continues. This jumps ahead....um, thirty pages in the book. So if you're wondering what happened to that fire, forget it! That's the past, man!

Siftland's Progress *Updated 9-29-07*

I'm going to pull a "Lorenzo" and start posting my progress, all the comics & art I'm working on. First up I've got four pages starting a preview for my giant graphic novel project "The Miner and the Cave That Ate Time." http://www.gnourg.com/gallery/minerpages/01minercave006.jpg http://www.gnourg.c...

Here is a poster too. I had to fade out the contrast of the bg figures because all the detail was distracting from the character. How does it look?

M. Search Gentleman Searcher (9 pages)

Heeeeeeeeey... I've got the first nine pages of my latest book. I've been moving more and more to the cartoony/funny side of things, even so far as to cancel a couple of my old more "dark & moody" projects. I'm pretty happy with the new direction. But who cares about me? What say you? http://www.gno...

Hey Thanks a lot! Yeah I've been unsuccessful in writing straight hero characters. This is way more fun anyway. Glad you like it! Here are a few posters I've made from images from Moon Man: http://www.gnourg.com/misc/moonmanp/01shots.jpg http://www.gnourg.com/misc/moonmanp/02blimp.jpg http://www.gno...

I really like the art sensibility and the spot color. The mocking of RPGs is always a good way to go and I think the fact that you aren't referencing anything specific or any D&D in-jokes is good. I do think the storytelling could be somewhat more clear though, transitions are too abrupt sometimes. ...

Moon Man on Wheels

Hi! Haven't posted over here in a while; wanted to test the waters again. Finished up my second Moon Man comic, Moon Man on Wheels . Some of you might remember this character, and if you want to read the first Moon Man story, you can read it at my website . Anyway the style has changed a little, it'...

Nice start.

I'm in about the 6 to 8 hour range. I've tried to get them down quicker, but haven't been successful. Now I just accept it! haha

heh. I didn't know that about The Fisher King . Gilliam is my personal idol btw. They need to release a DVD with more extras and stuff. Every story has a 'high concept,' which is either generated while it is being made or while it is being pitched, and I'm not convinced that that concept should NOT ...

If your entire story hinged on a concept, you're off on the wrong foot to begin with. What does that mean exactly? Isn't every story hinged on a concept? If you take away the entire concept that spawned it then I guess a good story could still exist. But that's like having Jurassic Park but without...
