Re: Muddy Boy

Ha, yeah, good questions, I'll pass them along to the writer. The project is in rewrite phase right now. The editor's response was with some of the logic behind the story.

Muddy Boy

I did some sample pages in collaboration with a local writer as a pitch to a publisher. Critiques are always welcome. http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii121/Redpone/BWMuddyBoy-1.jpg http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii121/Redpone/BWMuddyBoy-2.jpg http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii121/Redpone/B...

I think you should try darkening the shadows around the beast a little more. I think a more saturated black will really lock the eye into the triangle that surrounds the head and create some more depth

Re: Third Red's Illustration thread Updated 3/20

Just finished the drawing for this years pumpkin carving party (a bit early for once, but I think I'm just eager for summer to be over and for fall to begin). I was going for the headless horseman, and I thought I was being creative with the composition, but my wife thinks I should add some sort of ...

Thanks for the info guys. I am showing the first "chapter" of my book at Stumptown this weekend and I've already started attracting the eye of publishers and agents. I just wanted to know what to expect. Do you find having an agent is usefull? Do they take a percentage of the book's profits?

comic questions

Do any of you know how payments work with graphic novels? Is it usual to be offered an advance or do you wait until after the project is completed for payment?

One more thing, here is how the cover turned out. I know I already posted the drawing, but I wanted some feedback on the final cover. Of course, its too late to change anything....but constructive criticism is always appreciated!

msheenan01, thanks for the compliment. I've been a huge fan of Powell since I first read The Goon. Though, to be fair, nobody in my comic is ever stabbed in the eye. At least not in the first issue.

I like the watercolor look a lot more. I think the toned down colors suit your style more. Great image.
