Re: Princess and the Frog
I thought the film had some good ideas, but it was a structural mess. I was bored to tears for the first two thirds of the film. It was a huge mistake to hold off on development of key characters until later in the film. Our villain, for two thirds of the film, is nothing but a hollow obstacle. We d...

Re: Which Cintiq?
I had to go from the 21" at the studio back to my 12" when I went home for Christmas, and I can tell you it is absolutely 100% worth it to pay the extra grand for the bigger model. You'll get straighter lines, better color, and better pen accuracy. The 12" is great as a cheap, portable solution, but...

Re: Avatar
Everyone I talked to since the film opened got teary-eyed at a different moment in the film, and it was incredible hearing all the varying emotional reactions, running the gamut from when Jake takes his first steps in his Avatar body all the way to the climax of the final battle sequence when the wi...

Re: District 9
I am above and beyond happy that this was not the Halo movie. Because certainly all we need is one more steaming pile of garbage video game movie. I'm sorry Halo fans, but video games do not make good movies, period. Actually, I think Halo would make a great movie. There's an interesting sci-fi myt...

Re: Ponyo on a Cliff (2008)
Definitely a very sweet, magical film in the same category as Totoro. Some great character moments, some wonderful animation (the whole storm sequence, wow!). Like a few people, I guess I was expecting a bit more out of the test of love, but ah well. It's all good. A bit sad though that Fujimoto's ...

The Milo project itself is pretty ridiculous. I think the really exciting bit is how this technology can be applied to future games. Having characters that can recognize you as the player and learn from you while you play is an incredible advancement for co-op and enemy AI. I think a lot of people a...

Henry Hatsworth and the Puzzling Adventure
I'm sure a lot of you haven't heard of this game, which is why I'm posting about it. It's one of the few games in the last year that I haven't been able to put down. http://www.henryhatsworth.com/ is a great place to start if you haven't heard of the game before. The trailer on the site pretty much ...

Where the Wild Things Are
Wow.
The trailer hit today, and I am completely floored. This is really going to be something.

The licensed music was of the period tho! And I believe that a lot of the licensed tracks were actually mentioned in the graphic novel! At first it really did throw me off but I just really enjoyed it! I think that this movie is one of the best comic book adaptations there is even more so than 300!...

First, I felt the soundtrack was AWFUL. Coming from 300, which had an incredible orchestral score, to throw a bunch of licensed music in was a horrible decision. Every time a song came on it took me right out of the moment. All Along the Watchtower? Hallelujah? Flight of the Valkyries? Awful. None o...

Okay I just saw the movie and I absolutely loved it. I was really hesitant to see this movie, but I had a blast! The 3D really made the visual experience fun. After this and Bolt, I'm really happy with the direction 3D is going. However, somebody please PM me or something and explain what the deal ...

And as an added point, I saw this in 3D, and was not very impressed by it. In static scenes, the 3D was great, but when there was a lot of motion on screen, there seemed to be a lot of jitter (moreso, I imagine, than stop motion would normally introduce), which got annoying pretty damn fast, mostly...

I wish the story could have been better, but I did like all the characters. The movie looked great and I loved the soundtrack. I guess I was expecting something in the story to surprise me, but it felt like I've seen it all before. You know, that's actually why I liked it. It was everything I had s...
