Zuda Comics for Dec

(originally from my blog ) Okay, time for some catching up. Last month's Zuda winner was: High Moon . It was my pick, so I'm happy and excited about it. Now, let's talk about the rating system. I notice that a lot of comics are getting more stars than I think they deserve. No biggy, people like othe...

This is my entry for it. I've always believed that Wonder Woman should be, for lack of a better term, butch. Batma...

Nice. Though I think I enjoyed the final panel of German as punctuation, even if I didn't always understand it. Also, I'd like to see what a little sharpening could do to for the lines.

The panda non-joke was my favorite.

The eyes on the fifth one are particularly extraordinary. Perhaps you could experiment with using some more blues when shading skin tones. It's surprising how much blue is in skin. Good job over all too. I really appreciate the muted/desaturated tones you choose sometimes. It keeps it from looking l...

I recently got a classic Zelda itch I just had to scratch. http://www.vgmuseum.com/images/nes/01/legendzelda-99.png Oh baby, I had to work some major Nes Voodoo to technomance the ol' gold cartridge out of it's 777 year slumber. Let's just say, my next door neighbor may wake up to find one less cat ...

Wow those are fine pages. Was that charcoal or ink you used? Whatever it was, it looks like it was messy, but you did a good job keeping it under control. The composition of the second page it particularly striking to me.

Frank Esinosa's Rocketo. Seriously one of the most inspiring books I've ever read. It's a perfect mix of classic pulp story with a new and exciting art style. It's in the same creative vein as Thundarr the Barbarian, yet it's not in the nostalgia movement. This is something new and alive!

Guinness. It was the first beer I ever had, and by gum, it will be the last I have before I die. I order it every time I get alcohol.

Should I be feeling adventurous though, I'll try something else as long as it matches my rule of thumb: you can't shine a flashlight through it.

Beowulf (in 3D)

I saw Beowulf (in 3D) on Friday. I enjoyed it. I felt like I got my entertainment dollar out of it; however, that is not to say that it is beyond my presumptuous snobbery. Haha PROS: 1) The most ambitious CG movie yet. Not only were the environments and character models life-like, the main character...

Escape form New York That movie has everything, and yet offers nothing. I love it, but won't tolerate similar elements in other movies. But really, when I watched The Core and Stealth in the same night, it fundamentally altered my tastes. It suddenly dawned on me that there is just as much enjoymen...

Omega Man is one of my favorite sci-fi movies. Sure it drags in the middle, and sure it takes a big steamy crap on I Am Legend, but hey, Chalton Heston sells it.

I don't mind admitting that I really don't understand the last one... and I studied the Greek language in college. Maybe that's the problem. But beyond that, I really enjoyed them. The timing of the panels and speech were done very well. I'm generally not a huge fan of short gag strips like this, bu...
