Not to revive a dead thread, but I study copyright law, specifically with music. Yes, definitely get their permission. Their copyright on the song/lyrics covers what are called "derivative works," meaning any artistic works that make use of the content of the copyrighted song/lyrics. This isn't to s...

Got it from Barnes and Noble yesterday. Read it in one sitting and loved it :) One of the most fantastically well drawn youth comics I've ever seen. Very good job, Kazu.

Question about working with writers

I have a question for any artists who have worked with a separate writer on a piece. First, I suppose, how did you meet or decide to work with said writer? Did the writer approach you, or did you approach the writer? My next question is whether this is a particularly enjoyable way of working. Is it ...

I really like the contrast of the glow from the keyboard on his front and the darkness on his back. The effect very much illustrates how Clive is only conscious of what is immediately in front of him. That article was amazing, btw.

 wow, I hardcore was not expecting that!

Your composition is great, but I feel like the perspective is a little bit off in regards to the porches in the second panel. As I look, it seems like it might just be the lighting, but it's worth mentioning.

Marco - What I'm liking so much about this strip is how honest it feels. I haven't read something in a long time which so quickly drew me in. I think that the simplicity of the black and white and gray really helps with this. Keep them coming :)

It's not that this one is bad, it's just that I don't know why they'd want to give an impression of the girl as being empowered, when the story is about an obviously unempowered girl struggling with her self-image. I very much applaud your ability to put the email down and walk away. I am very much ...

This is awesome! The frames where the larger rabbit(?) shakes out his wings were excellent. They very clearly translated the physical motion of what was happening to me. Good job, can't wait to see more!

This thread makes me exceptionally happy. I have been feeling this way for a while, and two days ago decided I was going to start working on my story everyday, no matter what. Two days later, I find this thread. Coincidence? Mebbes :P

Watching that panel was amazingly cool in the same way that music school is cool. When I go to a music theory class, they show me why and how the music works the way it does. In the same way, watching that panel was immensely illuminating. I know that I am in love with graphic novel/comic book story...
