Just in case you didn't notice... hopefully the site won't get slashdotted too badly.

Ben Gibbard wrote that song for the Postal Service. But it's amazing how much Sam Beam is able to inhabit it with his own meaning; it really could sound like his version is the original. Eep. Mea culpa. And I actually knew that at one point, which makes it more embarassing. But the Iron & Wine vers...

Re: Beck

but the last album i didnt like. so i was worried about this new one.. For me it was the opposite - Sea Change is what finally convinced me to take a closer listen to Beck. Like most of his stuff it's certainly derivative in some ways, but not necessarily in a bad way... I thought Sea Change had a ...

Re: The Postal Service - Give Up

Postal Service doesn't really do it for me at all, though the original version (by Iron and Wine) of Such Great Heights is great. Postal Service is one of those groups I'd think I'd like from hearing a description of their music, but I really don't think they're all that interesting or good (Deathca...

Thought I had already missed it... don't know if I'll manage to make it up, but I'd like to.

phpBB upgrade reminder

I wrote Kazu about this offlist in case he hasn't patched the forum's installation yet, but for other people who might be running phpBB on their sites (for some reason, lots of comics sites seem to use it), please remember to upgrade. There are some pretty bad vulnerabilities in versions up to the r...

Someone said that I look like a cross between an emo kid and an ugly woman in this. Ouch. But I guess kind of true.

Nice. I'll try to come by. If other folks are planning on showing up, maybe we should head over to Lucky Baldwin's for a beer afterwards.

Book looks great, by the way.

I just don't think there's critical mass. If you pick a time when people should try to be on, that might help. I've seen a few people "drop by", just never at the same time.

Maybe an AIM chat room would be more accessible / popular.

Re: Irc Chatting

YOu know im fairly new to this forum But I was thinking How about we put up some Chat Channel up on IRC?? Im always up to chatting with people soo maybe some type of chat room would bring people together a little more? I'm not a big IRC person, but there is a (mostly unused) IRC server at chat.pant...

I personally didn't like it that much. I'm not a cartoonist or artist, and I don't have the best language to explain /why/ I didn't like it.... I think the fact that David Eggers champions Ware so much is telling.... the book (and most of the other work of his I've seen) is a little too obsessed wit...

Re: Haruki Murakami

I like his stuff a lot too. However it is really weird to read it and know that I'll probably never get to read it in its original language.... so much of the style is presumably lost in the translation. Since he (I'm pretty sure) speaks fairly good English, I'm wondering how he feels about translat...
