I've noticed a similar thing in Ridley Scott and Stanley Kubrick films. The pacing occasionally just pauses or drifts - think of the floating-through-space moments in 2001: A Space Odyssey or the beautifully composed slower environmental shots in Blade Runner. I don't know if this is quite the same ...

It's a little bit hard to tell anything without a clearer scan. What's the comic about?

I think it might be just seeing the image in a different context that does it. Although sometimes scanners do actually distort artwork. Mine scrunches everything down vertically by slightly less than half a millimeter every time I scan something in . . . invisible to everyone but me but it subconsci...

Holcombe Waller

Has anyone else here heard of Holcombe Waller? http://www.myspace.com/holcombewaller (I wish he had song samples up on his actual site) I found him ages ago on Pandora (which sadly no longer runs in Canada . . .) and have loved him since the first note of Quite Literally the End of the World. I almo...

The Witcher

Has anyone else here played the Witcher? This game has some of the best storytelling I've yet seen in a video game. Good voice acting, good art, a plot that doesn't insult the player with its simplicity. Moral ambiguity galore - no clear lines of Radiant Good! or Blackest Evil! in evidence. The choi...

I thought there could have been more humour mixed in with the close-ups of throats being cut, but overall I really enjoyed the film. Some of the songs have been running through my head for weeks now. I wish I could dress like Johnny Depp. Interesting points about the pacing being slow; on reflection...

This has a nice style. I like the limited palette and the spindly figures.

I agree with Mac McCool that the reel could be shortened - treat it like a movie trailer for what you can do. Show your best pieces first, and show them quickly. The people hiring you will not necessarily want to watch to the end of a four minute reel. They may only watch the first thirty seconds be...

I use fuitadnet.com, but I really wouldn't recommend them. They have a lot of problems with basic service, don't have a good line of communication with the people who use their services, and have fairly unresponsive tech support. I could tell you horror stories. So I'll be watching this thread with ...

Hi, everyone. I actually joined these forums quite some time ago with the intention of posting like mad, but life intervened. Regardless, here I am again, and here's my much-delayed introduction post. By day I work for a giant video game corporation. By night I draw comics. This community seems like...
