Re: 24 Hour Comics Day

Heh heh, thanks Derrick, but there's no chance in hell Archie would go for a mangling of their characters of this kind. If anything, I'd be worried about getting sued. (Seriously though, Archie has, traditionally, been a lousy place to work, either in terms of job benefits or creative freedom. Look ...

Re: 24 Hour Comics Day

And the final batch. I actually think I got a little better as I went on. I like the expressiveness of Page 17 and 18. http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee223/Prankster36/Archon/Archon17.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee223/Prankster36/Archon/Archon18.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/...

Re: 24 Hour Comics Day

Thanks! If you really sit down determined to do it--and being surrounded by comics-making friends can help a lot as well--you can be finished early enough to get a decent night's sleep. Starting earlier than noon helps--we actually began at 10 am. That said, I have to confess, I didn't actually get ...

24 Hour Comics Day

It's a little bit after the fact, but did anyone participate in 24 Hour Comics Day this year? If so, did you actually finish your comic? I did! Here's the silly, silly result: http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee223/Prankster36/Archon/Archon01.jpg http://i228.photobucket.com/albums/ee223/Prankster3...

Lemuria

I'm a little behind the ball on this one...it actually went up several months ago, and I've since started a new storyline, but I thought I'd put this up anyway. My new, goofy fantasy comic, Lemuria: http://www.webcomicsnation.com/memberimages/20090504.jpg http://www.webcomicsnation.com/memberimages/...

That's some really great stuff. Is this going to be a book or something, or is it just for fun? Are you going to add text?

Basically, P. T. Anderson realized that Paul Dano, who had been cast as Paul, was a lot better than the guy who he'd cast as Eli, so he decided to have him play Eli too, thus making the brothers twins. The schizophrenic thing (which I've heard elsewhere) seems like a pretty big stretch to me, especi...

How did artists make a living before copyright laws? By having wealthy patrons pay them a salary? This could work maybe. If enough charitable organizations are willing to fund artists then art can still get made. But I'd rather the system we've got, quite frankly. How many CEOs have good taste in a...

I just reviewed this at Rack Raids. Hope it didn't come off as more critical than I intended, it is a four-star (or -viking) rating after all.

I personally find it very constricting to work with another writer. Mainly because the story is WHY I draw comics. I want to tell a story. So I find it very suffocating if I have to draw a script I didn't get to write or have a huge part in the creation process. Now my experience comes mainly from ...

Anyone Need a Writer?

OK, I greatly apologize if this is bad form; if it is, just let me know and block this post or whatever. I don't want to be a big fat shill, but the fact is, some of the most spectacularly talented artists I've ever seen hang out on this forum. Me, I'm not so spectacularly talented from an art persp...

Comics, like film, portray something visually specific, so in that sense they're "micromanaging imagination", yes. Obviously novels and other print forms require you to imagine the appearance of the characters and settings, and comics generally don't...though there are slight exceptions: for instanc...
